The Reverence of Thinness
I was going to call this next piece, the Cult of Thinness but have just discovered someone’s written a book with that title. I know that doesn’t stop me using it but from what I can see the subject matter is similar too, so I’ve had a think and come up with The Reverence of Thinness.
This will continue the Talking Heads series (top left The Harmony of Difference quilts) but I’ve made a background of ultramarine blue with quinacridone magenta. I’ve put a spare head on for scale. At the top of the fabric I want to put some heads with very thin bodies and at the bottom fatter bodies on chains. Not sure if it will work out yet as I’m still thinking things through. There will also be a daschund dog with a very long thin body too! I was really looking forward to having a rummage through my stash of fabrics to find something I like, but I’ve discovered I’m hopelessly low on colour choices. I guess at some point I’ll have to have a dyeing/painting/printing session.
I’ve put some videos on the website and youtube (links in header) explaining a couple of the quilts in the exhibition.
