Update from the studio
There’s been lots of positive comments and feedback about the exhibition in Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum so far which is just beyond lovely. We’re on until 11th May, so I hope it might continue!! Do come along and visit. There will be Meet The Artist days too - next one is 22nd March 2025.
Here in the UK, the Quilters Guild has just begun to send out its quarterly magazine to subscribers, and I’m honoured and delighted with the article they’ve done on the exhibition and also my work. The Life 4, Hello Dear What Did You Do Today quilt is on the front cover and the Editor’s letter contains just the words stitched onto the piece. If you look under Videos or under Life Quilts in the header, you can find a video of me telling you about it, as well as pictures and text to read if you prefer.
I have started the next Talking Heads piece and it has morphed slightly and expanded in ideas from The Reverence of Thinness and is now called The Fragility of Self Worth. I started a similar one a few years ago but it ran out on me - the idea has remained with me though and is embraced in this new piece. Here’s some snippets of the early stages. I won’t say anymore just yet as it’s still all over the place in my head!
Below left is a monoprint - it’s actually Victoria Beckham, not that it’s recognizable or even matters. Right is the collection of heads that I’m working on. Such a long way to go though.
