August update:
I’ve started painting the eyes on two of my Harmony Of Difference quilts. One is titled “Colour Is Not The Problem,” and the other “Spread The Love, Show Compassion.” Through these quilts, I’m trying to convey that harmony is achievable despite our differences, and that we need to cultivate more understanding toward one another. It’s hard not to feel affected by the harsh and unsettling events happening in the world today.
I’ve raided the stash boxes to find colours and prints that are far removed from my usual working palettes, but I hope I’ve managed to achieve a sense of harmony amongst the lime greens, magentas, and oranges, all on a deep red background.
The final step is to fill in the spaces I've reserved for eyes, which were always intended to gaze directly at the viewer. However, as I’ve allowed my imagination to take the reins, I'm beginning to wonder if the outcome is a bit too unsettling even for my liking!
